Tree removal
Whole trees taken down in sections when there's no room to fell them, roped out over rooflines, sheds and fences. The timber gets cut into lengths you can actually shift.

I'm Alex. I climb and take down the trees other people would rather not touch, right across the Yarra Valley. The gear goes up, the tree comes down in pieces, and when I drive off you shouldn't be able to tell I was there.
Most of the trees around here can't just be dropped. There's a house under them, or a shed, or a fence line and a neighbour's garden. So they come down the other way: up the trunk on ropes and spikes, out along the limbs, cut and lowered piece by piece until there's nothing left standing but the stem.
It's slower than a chainsaw and a wedge, and it's the reason nothing gets broken on the way down.

If you're not sure which one you need, ring me and describe the tree. I'll tell you straight whether it needs doing.

Selective pruning to take weight off long limbs, lift a canopy or get light back into a garden, without leaving a tree that looks hacked at.
Standing deadwood and trees that have started to fail, brought down safely from the top rather than dropped in one piece.
Branches sitting over a house, a driveway or a neighbour's fence, rigged and lowered rather than let go.
Climbed rather than topped, so the dead fronds and the seed pods come off and the palm keeps its shape.
Hedges brought back to a straight line and a sensible height, with the clippings taken away the same day.

Four of the five reviews on this page mention the same thing, and it isn't the climbing. It's what the place looked like afterwards. Brush goes through the chipper, timber gets cut into lengths and stacked where you want it, and the lawn gets raked before I load up.

"By far the best service of all the tree removal companies in the Yarra Valley. Alex responds promptly and is 100% honest."
Old hollows are where the possums, parrots and owls live, and around Healesville there aren't many spare. When a standing dead tree has to come out for safety, that hollow goes with it.
So if you want them, nesting boxes can go up in the trees that stay. It's a small thing at the end of a job and it puts back what the removal took away. Ask when you ring.
"He did a fantastic job safely bringing down some dead trees around the property and adding nesting boxes."Adam Reker · Google review

Light on the garden, a view out the back, and a roof nothing is hanging over any more. Both of these were sent in by the same customer after the job.

We recently had Alex come to our property to remove a large yucca, and we couldn't be happier with the job. Alex safely removed the tree and cut it up into manageable sections, making everything easy for us to deal with afterward.
What really stood out was how tidy he left the site. Everything was cleaned up thoroughly and there was absolutely nothing left on the grass when he finished. Professional, efficient, and clearly takes pride in his work.
Highly recommend Alex if you're looking for a reliable and skilled arborist.
I have recently used Alex from Wedgetail Tree Services on two separate occasions to prune and remove overhanging tree limbs and to climb and remove dead fronds and seed pods from various large palm trees in my backyard. Alex's work was of a high standard, removing all materials and leaving the property clean and tidy. He was friendly and reliable, arriving on site at the time given. I would not hesitate to recommend him to others.
Alex was incredibly polite and efficient. He did a fantastic job safely bringing down some dead trees around the property and adding nesting boxes.
Alex and his crew did a fantastic job removing a very large tree over hanging my house. By far the best service of all the tree removal companies in the Yarra Valley. Alex responds promptly and is 100% honest. Will definitely be using Alex again for more trees in the future.
I'm based in Healesville and I work across the valley and the hills around it. If you're somewhere out along the ranges and you're not sure whether that's too far, just ring and ask. It usually isn't.
